I Got Your Vote! - Reaching Voters

No matter what position they are running for, a politician’s main goal is to not only win the election but find people who share the same beliefs and principles.

Political email lists are the least intrusive way of getting your ideas and message to your voters, at their convenience.

Now you may be asking yourself:

·       How do I find voters that align with me on issues?

·       How do I market and develop a relationship with these people?

Lucky for you, social media and email marketing are the perfect solution to these questions. People of all ages, from baby boomers to Gen Z, have a huge presence online. Here are just a few ways that you can grasp their attention.

Utilize Targeted Paid Advertising

What’s a message if it doesn’t reach the people in your district?

Social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram allow businesses to create ads with varying filters. Select individuals that are in your desired region, aligned with your beliefs on big issues, or even by age. Showing your ad to a targeted audience rather than a large group will allow you to maximize your ad spend on the right audience.

Share your Thoughts

Whether it be Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, or other social media platforms, be sure to keep your status updated daily. Share some thoughts or opinions on specific topics that you feel should be discussed.

While doing so, try to engage with followers or other people who share the same beliefs. Responding to comments and replies on your posts help build relationships with followers.

When it comes to voting, many people will vote for someone who makes them feel heard or seen. Engaging with your audience, even if it is primarily through social media, will make your followers feel seen and heard.

Think of it this way; how would it make you feel to know that a politician whom you follow responds to your questions or comments, personally?

Voters really appreciate when a candidate goes out of their way to respond to their questions or comments.

Try out Live Video

Many social media platforms have a feature that allows you to go “live” to the public. Live video allows anyone in any region to join and stream.

Live videos are especially useful for smaller, local politicians who want to address certain issues that may not be receiving mainstream news coverage.

Go a step further and start engaging with your audience by taking advantage of live streaming. People watching are able to join in on the conversation, whether it be asking questions or just leaving comments.

Email Marketing

When sending out an email campaign, remember quality over quantity. Having a high-quality list will have a greater success rate, and a higher deliverability rate.

A subject line is the first thing people see when opening their inbox. Ensure that you are creating a strong subject line that will make a contact want to open your email.

Just like the subject line, the information inside the email needs to be just as important. In politics, people want to be able to relate to the message/opinion, rather than forced to feel a certain way.

When targeting a specific email list, make the message as personalized as possible. Instead of stating an opinion, relate it to the targeted audience, whether it be age, income, gender, etc..
